Get Involved

Running for a position within the Students' Union (SU) is a fantastic way of changing the lives of students and making a real positive change to the way the college is run. It gives you the opportunity to voice the opinions of your peers and will empower others to stand up for what they believe in.

You can get involved with any campaign or event that takes place within the Union and will work closely with the rest of the Students' Union to achieve great things! The SU is an important part of the college and the college management welcomes its ideas/proposals.

In order to put forward student views you need a strong Union with strong leadership, and this is where you come in. At the beginning of the academic year there is Executive elections. These positions are voluntary and make up the Students' Union executive team. In the Spring there is Sabatical elections, these elections are for the 2 full time paid positions within the Union.

Sabbatical Positions:

  • President
  • Deputy President

Executive Positions:

  • FE Officer (if neither of the Sabbaticals are from FE)
  • HE Officer (if neither of the Sabbaticals are from HE)
  • Disabilities Officer
  • LGBT+ Officer
  • Women's Officer
  • Men's Welfare Officer
  • Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Students Officer (BAME)
  • Environments Officer
  • International students Officer
  • Apprentice Officer
  • Clubs & Societies Officer
  • Events & Fundraising Officer

As mentioned, these roles are all part-time, voluntary officers. This is a great opportunity to not only make a real impact on the students and college life, but it will also look brilliant on a CV and/or a university application.

*Please note that the executive positions have changed since last year. We felt that having more specific roles would be more beneficial to students. We also took some of the previous roles out as they were rarely all filled.
